Austin Liggett Dominates Wednesday Night Wingless Show

CHICO, CA (9-9-15) - Austin Liggett put together a dominant performance on Wednesday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, as he led all 30-laps to win his second Wingless Series Presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos race of the season as he opened the 62nd Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions in style.

Nick Larson and Rowdy McClennon would lead the field to green, but it would be fourth starting Austin Liggett soaring to the early lead as he put his right-rear on the thick Silver Dollar Speedway cushion and simply took off.

With Liggett out front opening up a sizeable lead, Shawn Jones would run in second, Shane Myhre third, and Rowdy McClennon would run in the fourth spot.

The caution would fly on the sixth circuit, and with the green lights flashing on, Liggett would get on the loud pedal and open up another sizeable lead as series point leader, Gary Nelson Jr worked into the fourth spot.

Tony Richards would work into the top five on the 12th lap, as the battle for second through fifth got exciting as Liggett set sail on the field. A lap 15 restart would see Larson hang with Liggett and challenge for the lead for a few laps, but Ligget was able to again use the cushion to his advantage and break away from the back.

Behind the leader, Shawn Jones, Shane Myhre, Tony Richards, Klint Simpson and Gary Nelson would race in a tight pack as they jockeyed for position.

With the checkered flag in the air, Austin Liggett would cruise to his second win of the season as Jones held on for second, Myhre third, Richards fourth, and Klint Simpson would round out the Top-Five.

24 Wingless Series Presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos cars were in action on Wednesday night and it was Shane Myhre earning quick time honors in qualifying time trials.

Heat race wins went to Angelique Bell, Liggett, and Shawn Jones, and Jones would also be victorious in the Dash.

ON TAP: The Wingless Series Presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos are off until the season finale on November 6th at the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, CA.

JOE HUNT MAGNETOS SPRINT CAR SERIES- Joe Hunt Magnetos� Roger Gleason brought the traveling concept to non-wing sprint cars by popular demand. Over the years, the Joe Hunt Magnetos Sprint Car Series has ran a limited schedule at select tracks around the state. In 2015, the series will operate under the direction of the Prentice Motorsports Group competing in 12 races scattered at six different tracks.
