Landon Brooks Wins Night One of Fall Nationals
Landon Brooks Wins Opening Night of Fall Nationals
(Chico, CA) 9//26/25…Fans who attended Friday night's Fall Nationals were treated to amazing racing. Thirty-five-winged 360 sprint cars were joined by 18 Hobby Stocks. Drivers and fans were at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway to honor Stephen Allard. It was the 11th time the track hosted this two-day event in memory of Allard.
Landon Brooks of Rio Oso won the 30-lap thrilling sprint car main event. Dominic Gorden jumped out to the early lead. Both he and Brooks battled it out for the top spot. After the 10th lap was completed, the lead duo was hampered by slower traffic. Gorden got bottled up off turn two and this gave an opening for Brooks to take the lead. Brooks completed the pass and would go on to never give the lead back. Both drivers showcased their talents as they not only had to battle each other but also wheel and deal with cars going a lap down.
Brooks crossed the line first. In doing so, he picked up an extra bonus from Lippert Construction. With the win and the bonus, Brooks and the team pocketed $4,000. Gorden was second. Veteran Andy Forsberg blasted his way into a third-place finish. Forsberg had spirited battles with Austin Woods and Max Mitry. Kaleb Montgomery charged from 12th to a fifth-place finish. Yet, the hard charger of the night was Shane Golobic. Golobic transferred out of the B main and started 22nd. From there he moved his way up and finished seventh. Golobic gained 15 spots during the 30-lap feature.
Bobby Butler led all 12-laps to capture the nights B main event. Butler was followed by Golobic, Steel Powell and Dryer Dothage. Nick Parker, Seth Standley, Camden Robustelli, and Brooks all captured wins during their 8-lap heat races. Gorden was the fastest overall qualifier with a lap of 11.571.
Welcome back Corey Hall! The former track champion returned to Hobby Stock racing tonight and won the exciting 20-lap main event. Hall held off a hard charging Phil Shelby. The best battle most of the night involved Austin Shelby, Kyle Cheney, and Jason Clayton Jr. for third. Late in the race Cheney moved into third and held that spot at the line. Shelby finished fourth. Clayton Jr. almost flipped at one point and drifted back to a ninth-place finish. Jared Flower was competitive all night and finished fifth. Clay Ralls was the hard charge. Ralls gained eight spots to finish 8th. Robert Warf and Jay Bryant were competitive all night and finished sixth and seventh.
Brian Cooper dropped out early in the main event and that ended his five races in a row streak at Chico. Cheney and Clayton Jr. won the two eight lap heats. The Hobby Stocks qualified during hot laps. Flower turned the fastest lap overall with a 17.291. Hobby Stocks return on Saturday night.
