Riebes Auto Parts Presents Point Race #14 Kids Bike Night
CHICO, CA (8-7-14) -Â The Tri Counties Bank Friday night point championship season is down to just two races. On Friday night, August 15th, the countdown championship chase begins. Five divisions will be on hand led by the return of the 410 winged sprint cars, the street stocks and limited late models. All three of these divisions will return the following week to decide a championship. For the two other divisions, economy sprints and hobby stocks, this is their final point race of 2014. The four local Riebes Auto Part stores are presenting this night of racing.
This race night will also serve as the annual Kids Bike Night event. Kids 11 and under will be admitted FREE when accompanied by one paying adult. Parents, please remember to have your kids bring their own bikes to race. Once inside, the kids will get a free soda and hot dog coupon. They will also be entered to win one girls bike and one boy's bike. For the first time in the history of Kids Bike Night, a third bike will be raffled off to juniors in attendance ages 12-16. Those of that age group will enter the drawing to be held at our novelty/t-shirt booth. The two small bikes are being donated by Lash's Glass of Chico. Budget Landscaping and DeAnn Marinellow are donating the larger bike for the juniors.
Pit gate will open at 4pm while the front grandstand gate is scheduled to open at 6pm. Adult general admission ticket price is $13.00. Seniors and juniors are $11.00. Kids, ages 11 and younger are FREE. Racing is slated to start at 7 pm. The bike races take place during the intermission. Trophies will be awarded to the top three while any kid that participates will receive a ribbon.
After the bike races are concluded we will also say goodbye to a champion. Chico's own Jason York is retiring from sprint car racing. The former two-time champion will be fondly remember as one of the most dedicated and supportive drivers that Silver Dollar Speedway has ever seen. His wife Julie, sons Drake and Dane will also be by dad's side when we get to interview York for the final time.
There will also be a special on track demonstration from some invited outlaw go kart drivers from Cycleland Speedway. The Speedway is proud to host the next generation of racing superstars.
