Wingless Bonus Money
CHICO, CA (7-23-09) -Â Handy Racing Promotions announced today that there would be an extra $1,000 in purse money added to Saturday night's Wingless main event at Silver Dollar Speedway. On July 25, the wingless drivers will have a rare opportunity to race on a Saturday night at the speedway in conjunction with the King of California Sprint Cars. This extra money will be awarded throughout the field accordingly. It is a great chance for our top driver and traveling teams to showcase their talents in front of what is expected to be a packed grandstand.
On Friday night the street stock division will amp up the crowd with their close side by side racing and always entertaining group of drivers. Heather Bartlett and Phil Marin will continue their battle for the title. Marino won last week giving him five wins out of seven events this year. Richard Workman sits second in the points while local ace Joe Longmire holds down the third spot.
Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows is coming on board to sponsor the weekend races. With their help a $900 bonus will be on the line for the two-day top point earner for the King of California series.
Terry Schank Jr. has the most wins in the wingless division this season with three. Schank Jr. is in the third spot of points because he missed one race. The leader is Jimmy Pettit. Pettit has one win this year and holds a 20-point lead over Jay Youngman. With the extra bonus money and the chance to get to race at Chico on a Saturday night we are hopeful to have a strong car count and make it a great night of racing for the fans.
Front grandstand opens at 5:00 pm with racing slated to start at 7:00 pm both nights.
