Hobby Stocks Return to the Silver Dollar Fair
CHICO, Calif., May 15, 2025 – With the popularity of the Hobby Stock division at Silver Dollar Speedway, SLC Promotions wanted to showcase these drivers in front of a large crowd as part of the Silver Dollar Fair. The Hobby Stocks will get their chance to shine under the bright carnival lights on Thursday, May 22nd, and Friday, May 23rd. Both races will count towards the 2025 Silver Dollar Speedway overall point championship. These are two individual shows. Hobby Stocks and winged 360 sprint cars will share the limelight on Thursday and Friday.
Yuba City’s Brian Cooper leads the point standings after one round of racing. He won the 20-lap main event on April 11th to secure the top spot in points. Chasing him, just one point back, is Oroville’s Toby Merrifield. Four points back of Cooper sits Kevin Thomas. Rounding out the top five are Willy King and Jason Clayton. A total of 16 drivers attended this race.
Following the two nights of racing at the Fair, the next event is on June 6th. The Hobby Stocks are part of the July 4th event, called Fast Cars and Freedom. The sixth and final race occurs on July 18th, part of the Tyler Wolf Memorial. The overall point champion will receive a unique, decorated Silver Dollar Speedway track champion pedal car.
As a theme tied into the Fair, each night the winner will receive a gigantic fluffy bear with a Silver Dollar Speedway belt attached. “I applaud SLC Promotions for doing unique, thoughtful victory lane hardware,” said track announcer Troy Hennig. “I hope these drivers appreciate the added incentives that Chico offers.”
Competitors, please use the backside entrance for each night of racing. Do not come through the front gate, or the Costco gate. You will see the entrance, next to the animal hospital, and directly across from the Tractor Supply Store on Martin Luther King Blvd.
A large crowd is expected both nights. The races are free, with paid admission into the Silver Dollar Fair.
Hobby Stocks do not need to preregister.
All events will be broadcast live on FloRacing.
