Kaleb Montgomery Wins First Career Race at Chico

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kaleb Montgomery Gets First Career Win at Chico

CHICO, Calif., May 22, 2025 – Templeton’s Kaleb Montgomery thrilled the Thursday night crowd with a dominant win during the opening night of racing at the Silver Dollar Fair. It was a special night for Montgomery, not only winning during the popular fair event, but also it was his first career sprint car win at Silver Dollar Speedway. Montgomery slid past race leader Sean Becker on lap 18 and never looked back. He held a 1.700 second lead at the finish line over Max Mittry who ended up second. Becker’s night came to an unexpected end on lap 25 with some sort of mechanical issue. Chance Grasty roared from his eighth starting spot to finish third. A tip of the hat to fourth place finisher Brookly Holland. With less than a handful of main event starts in her career at Chico, Holland raced up front all night. At one point she was in second place, sandwiched between Becker and Forsberg, two of the all-time greatest in Chico. Luke Hayes continues to impress and worked his way to a fifth place finish.

A total of 18 cars entered the Thursday night special event. Andy Forsberg took the fastest lap in qualifying. His lap was 11.792. Misfortune struck Forsberg when he slowed to a stop on lap 19 of the main event. At the time he was in the third spot. Mariah Ede won the first heat eight lap heat race. Jennifer Osborne got a popular win in heat race two. Luke Hayes scored a dominant win during heat race three.

With the win, Montgomery scored the most points tonight with 395. Max Mittry is second with 393. Chance Grasty has 391. Brooklyn Holland 378. Luke Hayes and John Michael Bunch are tied for fifth with 377.

The Hobby Stocks brought 19 top competitors to the track tonight, In the end, it was Brian Cooper taking home the top spot. Cooper passed Devin Koranda on lap 11 and extended his lead to over four seconds at the checkered flag on lap 20. The win makes it two for two this season at Chico for Cooper. Koranda held down the second spot at the finish line. Kyle Allen returned to his home track and scored a third-place finish. Paul Stephens raced his way into the fourth-place spot. Kevin Thomas, by the narrowest of margins, held off Toby Merrifield for fifth. Koranda looked sharp in winning heat one. Allen captured the win in heat two. Shawn Barker was able to hold off Brian Cooper for the win in heat three. It was an exciting group of drivers on a Thursday night racing in front of an energetic crowd.
