Price Scores Top 10 in Chico During David Tarter Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – CHICO, Calif. (May 5, 2021) – Robbie Price wheeled his family owned No. 21p to a seventh-place finish Saturday night during the David Tarter Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway, which hosted more than 60 drivers for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour event.

The performance capped a two-race weekend that featured a rough ending to Friday’s opener after mechanical issues plagued the team in heat race action.

“It’s hard to be too disappointed when you are competing against the cars that were there and we were able to leave with a top 10,” he said. “I felt like we had one of the best cars all weekend and I feel like they knew we were there for sure after Saturday.”

Price kicked off Friday’s program by qualifying second quickest in his qualifying flight. He started second in a heat race, but suffered a mechanical problem on the opening lap and pulled off the track.

“We broke in the heat race on Friday and the way the format was we figured we’d just save our stuff for Saturday,” he said. “I was going to have my work cut for me and I didn’t want to chance it too much after that.”

Price returned to the bullring on Saturday looking for redemption and again he qualified second quickest in his qualifying flight. He then won a heat race from the pole position and earned a spot in a dash as a result. He finished where he started – third – to garner the fifth starting position in the A Main.

“We didn’t change a whole lot from Friday to Saturday and we showed early we had speed,” he said. “These deals are all about being fast early in the night and we set ourselves up for success in qualifying and the heat.”

In the feature, Price struggled at the drop of the green flag and by Lap 10 he had fallen to 10th. However, Price was able to claw himself forward and he advanced as high as fifth before settling for seventh at the conclusion of the 35-lap event.

“We had a pretty good car all night when we were racing, but restarts killed us,” he said. “We kept getting stuck on the bottom of them and I just couldn’t seem to make it work down there. But overall, for 61 cars being there, I felt pretty good getting seventh.”
