Forsberg Unbeatable in 2018 at Chico
Chico, CA (April 2, 2018) …. So far in 2018 three sprint car main events have been completed. So far, the same driver has won all three. Forty-one-year-old Andy Forsberg of Auburn has found the fountain of youth. “They say sprint car racing is a young man’s sport,� said Forsberg. “I guess 40 in the new 20.�
Forsberg now sits at 51 career main event wins. Just a year and a half ago he was stuck at 38. To say he has rejuvenated his career at Chico is an understatement. Fresh off his third track championship this past season, Forsberg has started this season off with a dominating demeanor. With the three wins, Forsberg has pocketed $7,500 before the calendar date moved into April. It is refreshing to see a veteran be able to stay competitive with this current young crop of hungry drivers. This Friday night all eyes will be focused on Forsberg’s drive for four.
Pit gate will open at 4 PM for the competitors. Grandstand gate opens at 6 PM each night. Racing is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM. Adult admission on Friday night is $14.00, juniors and seniors $12.00, children $6.00 (ages 6-11) and kids 5 and under are free.
College students with proper identification can get in for $6.00 during all weekly point races.
Earl’s Plumbing Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, Wingless Sprints and Vintage Hardtops will join the winged sprint cars this Friday night.
This will also be the last weekend of racing before the Monster Trucks invade Chico the following Friday and Saturday night.
Racing resumes on April 20th with another five-division night.
