Speedway Contract Renewed
Northern California Auto Racing promoter Dennis Gage has signed a 5-year renewal to operate Silver Dollar Speedway through 2023. Gage, who tookover the speedway in 2011, is approaching 8 years of operation of the Fairgrounds ¼ mile clay oval. The new contract was approved by the Fairgrounds governing board at their monthly meeting on July 6th.
Gage also announced a new partnership with area businessman Lowell Moural who operates Cycleland just south of Chico. “Lowell and I have been working together informally for six years now and it just made sense to combine our resources� Gage said. “Lowell has done a great job for this community, especially the youth, and he’s strong on track and race operations,� he continued. “But most importantly, we share a mutual goal to provide the best entertainment possible for the residents of Chico and travelers from afar.� He concluded.
The contract takes effect upon the expiration of current agreement that covers the remainder of 2018
Moural and Gage have already begun looking at facility improvements, race program upgrades, equipment modernization, novelty acts and entertainment, streamlined scheduling, and numerous other ideas.
Both operate other facilities as well which will remain independently operated. Cycleland remains all Moural and Marysville Raceway is solely operated by Gage.
“Neither of us is the youngest guy, quipped Moural, but we kinda hit our stride together and we can make Silver Dollar better.� He said.
Moural has operated Cycleland Speedway for 38 years. Gage managed All American Speedway in Roseville four 4 years before taking over Silver Dollar 8 years ago. He has operated the Marysville track for four years.
