Tony Richards Returns to Victory Lane at Silver Dollar

CHICO, CA (4-30-16) -Â When it comes to Wingless Sprint Car racing at the Silver Dollar Speedway the name that comes to mind first is Terry Schank Jr. Schank is the All-Time Win leader at the Speedway with 35. He has already won multiple times at the track this year by large margins. That all changed last night though as Orland, CA driver Tony Richards put together a flawless Main Event en route to beating Schank.

Richards led the field down to the Green Flag and quickly jumped out front of the field. Schank however would get bottled up around the 5th spot for the first few laps before the cars got strung out a bit. Once they did, Schank was able to get up on the wheel and get around a few cars and slot into the second spot. Once there he would set his sights on race leader Tony Richards. He was able to catch the #94 of Richards but never could quite get by him, something that Schank hasnï¿½t experienced at Silver Dollar yet this season.

ï¿½We tore up our main car in last nightï¿½s race, so we scrapped all night to get olï¿½ faithful together for tonight and she did her job. The goal every week is to beat the #1 car and tonight we got it done.ï¿½ Stated an elated Richards in Victory Lane.

The win marks the 3rd of Tony Richardsï¿½ career at Silver Dollar Speedway. Richards has multiple wins and championships at the now defunct Orland Speedway, and now looks to continue that success in Chico. Terry Schank would settle for the 2nd spot. Barry Pries Jr. who made the move into a Wingless Sprint Car this year from Midgets ran a great race and settled for the 3rd spot. While Angelique Bell and Jeremy Wilson rounded out the Top Five.

We return to regular Point Racing action at the Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday night May 6th with Points Race #5 featuring 410 Sprint Cars, Ltd. Late Models, Street Stocks, Sport Mods, and Hobby Stocks. We also will be having a Motherï¿½s Day Special on Ticket Prices for Mothers only.
