410 Sprint Cars Take Center Stage
CHICO, CA (4-11-16) -Â Believe it or not, it has been eight months since the last Friday night 410 sprint car point race held at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. For dedicated diehard fans, the wait is over. Chuck Patterson Dodge presents point race #2 featuring the first point race of the season for the winged 410 sprint cars. Four other divisions will join the 410's, led by the IMCA Sport Modifieds, limited late models, economy sprints and hobby stocks.
Friday night general admission is $14.00 for adults, $11.00 for seniors and juniors. Children ages 6 � 11 are $6.00 while kids five and under are free. Pit gate opens at 4 PM with the front gate opening at 6 PM. Winged sprint car qualifying is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
The 410 winged sprint cars will be led by defending champion Sean Becker or Roseville. Becker is now a five-time track champion including wining the past four years in a row. Chico's Shane Scott holds the record for consecutive championships at six. Chasing Becker once again will be Andy Forsberg of Auburn. Forsberg has dedicated his offseason to mapping out a game plan in hopes of beating Becker in 2016. Chico's Jonathan Allard had an impressive season in 2015 and looks to regain his dominance at his home track. Chico's Brad Bumgarner and his family have spent the offseason upgrading their family owned #88. Multiple young guns are ready to challenge the champions including Michael Ing, Mason Moore, Rowdy McClenon and Keith Bloom.
Twenty-two IMCA Sport Modifieds graced Silver Dollar Speedway the first point race back in March. Needless to say the racing was intense and featured multiple battles during the 20 lap feature. It's great to see a newer division of drivers and car counts prosper again.
The limited late models, hobby stocks and economy winged sprints all make their debut this Friday night for 2016.
