Johnson Set to Race Five Straight Nights, including World of Outlaws Debut

Inside Line Promotions – PENNGROVE, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2014) – Chase Johnson has been looking forward to this weekend for a long time.
Johnson, who will compete for five straight days, will race four consecutive nights at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. It starts today in his family owned sprint car during the California Sprint Car Civil War Series event.
“I definitely feel more at home running the 360ci over the 410ci because that’s the majority of my experience,” he said. “I think the biggest difference will be from running the 360 winged car to the nonwing 410 the next night.”
On Thursday Johnson will hop into a nonwing 410 sprint car owned by Shawn and Cindy Thomas for the CRA/USAC event at the quarter-mile track. It will mark only his second nonwing 410 race.
The weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway wraps up with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Friday and Saturday for the 61st annual Gold Cup, which will be Johnson’s first-ever time competing with the premier sprint car series.
“It’ll be my first time racing with the World of Outlaws,” he said. “It’s a huge dream and accomplishment for me. I’m looking forward to the whole experience. The game plan is to put some solid laps together and roll it back into the trailer in one piece. We want to improve each night and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Johnson will conclude his busy weekend by making his first career trip to Antioch Speedway in Antioch, Calif., on Sunday to race with the World of Outlaws.
“I’ve actually never even stepped foot on the place before,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to going to Antioch and experiencing that place. I’ve heard it’s a sister track to Petaluma Speedway. I’m interested to head there and see what happens.”
