Scelzi Invading Silver Dollar Speedway for Trio of Races This Week

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2014) – Dominic Scelzi will tackle three races at Silver Dollar Speedway this week.
Scelzi will kick off the competition on Wednesday at the quarter-mile track in Chico, Calif., with the California Civil War Sprint Car Series.
He started on the pole of last year’s event and led early before being knocked off the track. Scelzi then rebounded to post an eighth-place result.
“I feel good going into it,” he said. “I know it’s going to be a tough race. We’re on the right track. I feel like we’ve got speed and momentum. I feel really confident. I would really like to go in there and qualify good. If we can do that hopefully the night can go smoothly. I’d like to walk away with a top five. I feel like that’s a goal that’s more than possible to reach.”
The weekend will wrap up with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Friday and Saturday for the Gold Cup.
Scelzi is aiming to make his first main event at the Gold Cup after missing out by two positions during the Friday event last year.
“I feel like this year if I can set down a decent lap in qualifying that’d be a big boost,” he said. “It is the Gold Cup so anything can happen. It’s one of the bigger races right behind the Peter Murphy Classic for me. It has a lot of history. People seem to be on their game a little more for this race. You definitely have to bring your ‘A’ game for this race.”
