Allard Wins Fourth Main of Year at Chico

Allard Wins Fourth Main of Year at Chico

CHICO, CA (7-4-14) - The Winged 360 Sprint Cars returned to the Silver Dollar Speedway along with the Perma-zyme Wingless Sprint Cars, Winged Economy Sprint Cars, Hobby Stocks, and the California Vintage Hardtops to make up the 11th Edition of the Tri-Counties Bank Points Championship Series. Jonathan Allard wheeled the Clyde Lamar owned Tri-C Machine #3c to victory for the 4th time this year at Silver Dollar. Allard was joined in Victory Lane by, Terry Schank Jr. in the Perma-zyme Wingless Sprints, Scott Gannett in the Winged Economy Sprint Cars, Jesse Skidmore in the Hobby Stocks, and Jason Armstrong in the Vintage Hardtops.

Steven Tiner would lead the field down to the Green Flag in the STR #94 machine, with Jonathan Allard Starting outside the front row. Allard would initially lead Lap 1, before Tiner would make a powerful move to get back by Allard just before the caution flew for an incident involving Mike Monohan and Billy Wallace in Turn 4 on Lap 2. Steven Tiner proved he had a strong car by pacing the field for the next 9 laps. Once the leaders entered lapped traffic, Allard used his experience at Silver Dollar to pick the perfect spot to make the move on Tiner. Once Allard got by, Roseville's Sean Becker moved by Tiner for the 2nd spot and began to hound Allard for the lead. Allard though would prove to be to strong and would power on to win his 53rd career main event at Silver Dollar Speedway. Sean Becker continued his string of consistency by way of his 2nd place finish. Steven Tiner would come across the line with a solid third place finish. Andy Forsberg finally broke through for a good finish at the Silver Dollar Speedway with a 4th place run in the #01 PT Shocks General Lee. Colby Weisz rounded out the top five. Heat Race Victories were claimed by Andy Forsberg, Seth Nunes, and Reyna Krueger. Jonathan Allard paced the 20 car field in Time Trials with a lap of 12.155.

There was extra money on the line for the Perma-zyme Wingless Sprint Cars, and that drew a good sized field of cars with 16 drivers entering tonights race. Bradley Clark would lead the field down into turn one at the start of the Main Event only to spin in turn 1 in front of the field. This accident was just the beginning of a very strange race. On the restart the front row consisted of the #24n driven by Nick Larsen, outside of him on the front row was the #01 of Nick Larson. I have never seen two drivers with the same name not only compete in the same event but battle back and forth for the lead. For the first 8 Laps of the race these two swapped the lead multiple times, until Terry Schank Jr. passed them both for the lead in turn 1. When they got to turn four it got really confusing as Larson (01) got into Larsen (24n) sending Larsen (24n) into a violent series of flips. Both drivers were unharmed and that incident ended the confusion as both cars received damage that knocked them out of contention for the win. Terry Schank Jr. would go on to win in dominant fashion as he has done so often at Chico. Rowdy McClenon came home in the 2nd position, McClenon also picked up the Trophy Dash Win presented by Konnected Clothing Company. Orland, Ca.'s Tony Richards had a stellar night as he drove to a third place finish. Don Emery and John Clark would round out the top 5. Heat Race wins were claimed by Terry Schank Jr. and Timmy Sherman Jr. Just another strange part of the night both Heat winners Initials, TSJ....

The Hobby Stock Main Event was absolutely dominated by the 4r of Brad Ray. Ray had no competition throughout the entire race and was initially declared the winner. However, the top three finishers all have to go to the scales to make sure the weight of the car is correct. Ray's car was too light on the scales thus causing a Disqualification and giving the victory to Points Leader Jesse Skidmore. David Cooper was scored in the 2nd position. 2 time Track Champion Brian Compton finished 3rd, followed by Kyle Allen and Shannon Collins rounding out the top 5. Heat Race victories were claimed by Brian Compton of Sacramento and Kyle Allen out of Cherokee.

The Winged Economy Sprint Car Main Event saw Jason Standley jump out to an early lead. Standley, the points leader, looked to be in control of the race until a miscue in turn 2 on lap 8 would cost him the win. Standley got a little out of shape and spun into the infield thus bringing out the caution, and handing the lead and eventually the win over to Scott Gannett. Gannett led the final 12 laps of the event while Standley tried to make up as much ground as possible. He would wind up one spot short and finish in the 2nd position. The only other car finishing on the lead lap would be the #5 of Ron Wyman. The lone heat race was claimed by Jason Standley.

The California Vintage Hardtops class was on hand once again at the Speedway. Jason Armstrong continued his dominance of the class by way of absolutely crushing the rest of the field. Dennis Armstrong would come across the line in the 2nd position. These Vintage Hardtops are always a pleasure to have on hand as they take us on a trip back to racing in the 1930's. Giving us some insight as to what the racing was like back in the day.

We will return to action this upcoming Friday Night July 25th, at the Silver Dollar Speedway with Tri-Counties Bank Points Championship Series Race #12 presented by Cherry St. Mini Storage. Featuring the return of the mighty 410 Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Dirt Modifieds, Ltd. Late Models, and the Mini Stocks. Adult Tickets prices are $13 dollars, Jrs. And Srs.
