CHICO, CA (8-30-12) - Every race that the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series presents during the year is always spectacular in nature. This coming Wednesday, September 5 that is sure to be the case once again as series will compete in its annual crown jewel event, the Pacific Sprint Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.

The Pacific Sprint Cup features the top 32 drivers in the current Civil War Series point standings in an invitational that is the highest paying Civil War Series event of the year. Additionally, the special weeknight event acts as the opener for the big four day Gold Cup Race of Champions week at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds.

When it comes to the Pacific Sprint Cup it is the best of the west converging in an invitational event that not only pays $2000 to the winner but offers a caliber of bragging rights like no other. Not only have these 32 drivers earned their position in the event by means of blood, sweat and tears during the series campaign but they get the opportunity to compete before an audience that includes travelers from all of the United States that trek to the small town of Chico for the annual week of speed. Those fans are sure to be thrilled with this year's Civil War court as it takes to the track on Wednesday night along with the Wingless Sprint Cars.

Topping the entry list for the Pacific Sprint Cup will be six time series champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn. Forsberg continues to lead the point standings in the Civil War campaign as he eyes a historical seventh series title. For Forsberg, the Chico clay is quite familiar as he finished second in the 2012 weekly Friday night championship there and has multiple wins in the annual Pacific Sprint Cup as well.

Forsberg currently leads the Civil War standings by a 24-point margin over Colfax driver Colby Wiesz, another previous winner of this Wednesday night classic. Former Civil War Champion Greg DeCaires is third in the standings, 38-points out of the lead. Princeton's Mason Moore has been on a hot streak with three straight victories in multiple venues recently. Moore is fourth in the standings, 39-points from the lead.

Former Silver Dollar Speedway champion Stephen Allard of Cameron Park is fifth in the standings over Sacramento's Herman Klein. Former Petaluma Speedway Champion Bradley Terrell is seventh in the standings over Robert Stice of Grass Valley, Kyle Hirst of Elk Grove and Chase Johnson of Penngrove.

The gates will open at 5 p.m. on Wednesday night with qualifying beginning at 6:30. Tickets are $25.
