Racing Continues This Friday Night with Home Depot Night
CHICO, CA (7-6-11) -Â The Home Depot, which is the world's largest home improvement specialty retailer with stores in all 50 states, is coming to the Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday night, July 8. Along with JP's Paint and Body Works, The Home Depot will be an associate sponsor for Wells Fargo Point Championship racing #10. A staggering five divisions will be on hand including the 410-winged sprints, mini stocks, dirt modifieds, street stocks and the Dirt Solution Limited Late Models. "We are excited to have Home Depot associated with the Silver Dollar Speedway," said track promoter Dennis Gage. "Anytime you can get support from a company that was the fastest growing retailer in U.S. history means a lot to a race track that offers grass roots racing."
Front gates will open at 6pm on Friday night. Racing is slated to start at 7:30pm. Adult general admission is $12.00, seniors and juniors $10.00 while kids are just $6.00. Both Home Depot and JP's Paint and Body Works will be giving away special prizes to the fans on this night. The Chico Home Depot is located at 2580 Notre Dame Boulevard while JP's is located at 1840 Park Ave.
The rip-roaring Mini Stocks are scheduled for their second time of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway. The first visit brought a large car count and tons of excitement. "Once again we need to thank Paul Hawes for helping us get the Mini Stocks to Chico," said Gage.
The dirt modifieds have an amazing championship battle going between Mark Abouzeid and Richard Papenhausen. Both drivers are former champions and each is looking to get back into victory lane. On July 4th Jeff Olschowka showed them both the fastest way around the track.
Kevin Ward picked up his second win of the year in the street stocks. Everyone is still chasing Kevin Lesch in the point's battle. The street stocks have been highly entertaining and offered close competitive racing.
Tom Arbogast looks to continue his win streak in the Dirt Solution Limited Late Model Series. Arbogast has won the last two features at Chico. Yet, the championship battle is between David Larabee and Ken Micheli.
The 410 winged sprint cars will race for the third time in seven days. Mike Henry showed up on July 4th and won his first career 410 win. Sean Becker and Andy Forsberg continue to lead the points. Look for Jason York, Tyler Wolf or Robert Stice to have a good weekend.
