"Hot Flash!" slated to heat up Gold Cup Chili Feed and Bikini Contest

[b CHICO, CA (8-8-10)] – The countdown to the 57th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions continues and "the biggest little sprint car race in world" is just weeks ahead. With increased winnings and an improved format that brings the best drivers in the nation to all three nights of this annual fall classic, the racing is sure to be extreme and the additional entertainment on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds is beginning to illustrate that this four day motor sports extravaganza is more than a race…it's an experience.
The latest addition to the growing list of fanfare taking place September 8, 9, 10 and 11th in Chico will bring one of the area's well known rock bands to the spotlight of the famed Joe Hunt Magnetos Chili Feed and the $1000 to win Miss Gold Cup Bikini Contest. This year, Chico's flammable rock and roll band "Hot Flash!" will perform during the Chili Feed and following the Miss Gold Cup Bikini Contest.
Hot Flash! is Chico's only rock n' roll band with three front women rockin' the room. Kathy Slater on rhythm guitar brings her soaring vocals to the stage. Award-winning vocalist, Holly Taylor on drums and vocals drives the band with impressive power. Laurie Dana is the newest member of Hot Flash. Filling in while Kelly is on "maternity leave", Laurie brings years of experience to the group. On lead guitar is the award-winning guitarist, Eric Peter and rounding out the rhythm section is veteran musician, Steve Erwin. Sandal-wearing Uncle Don Slater on percussion completes this group of antic-causing rockers along with Dan Quinn who will join the group on guitar for this electrifying venue at the upcoming Gold Cup Race of Champions.

On Friday night, the Joe Hunt Magnetos Chili Feed and Hot Flash! is sure to bring a spark of life to the Silver Dollar Pavilion as hundreds of race fans, teams and campers will gather for great food and spirits featuring discount chili, salad and cornbread along with Coors Light and Pepsi Cola on tap. The social affair will culminate with the crowning of the Miss Gold Cup 2010 that awards $1000 to the winner of this famed bikini contest.

The Gold Cup Race of Champions features four big nights of open wheel competition and a variety of exciting divisions this year. It all starts on Wednesday, September 8, with three different divisions taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway quarter mile. The opening night of racing features 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars in the annual "Pacific Sprint Cup" Invitational event, the crown jewel of California's premier traveling series for winged 360 sprint cars, the Civil War Sprint Car Series. The winged sprint cars will be joined in 2010 by two additional open wheel classes for an incredible kick off to the week of racing.
Joe Hunt Magnetos will be involved in more than just the Chili Feed in 2010 as the wingless sprint cars of the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Shootout will share the spotlight along with the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association in the BCRA Western Midget Spectacular. This will mark the first time these three divisions have come together in one open wheel showdown that is just the beginning of a huge week of racing in California.
The Wednesday night event is general admission with no reserved seating and is just a high octane warm up to the following days to come. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the nations best drivers come together with the best of California as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Tour concludes its annual Gold Rush Tour on the banks of Silver Dollar Speedway. This year the new Gold Cup format designed for fan appeal brings all of the competitors to the track on all three nights for the very first time.
In addition to the Friday night Chili Feed, action will be lively on Thursday night after the races as Kronik Energy Drink presents the electrifying band "Double Funk Crunch" in the Silver Dollar Pavilion after the races. This event will be free to all racers, fans and campers and will feature discount tacos, beer and beverages as well as video footage on the big screen of Gold Cup's most fantastic moments.
