Justin Sanders Shines Once Again at Chico
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sanders Back in Victory Lane
CHICO, Calif., May 24, 2025 – For the fourth time this season, Justin Sanders was the first driver to the checkered flag at Silver Dollar Speedway. Sanders won the special Saturday night race at the Silver Dollar Fair. Under the bright lights, Sanders once again shined the brightest. While Sanders did get the win, there were multiple challengers throughout the main event.
Max Mittry won the dash and earned the right to start from the pole position of the feature race. Mittry would lead the first six laps until his car came to a sudden stop in turn one. Mittry would not continue. This allowed Sanders to emerge as the new leader. Sanders led until lap 16, when Shane Golobic took the lead. Golobic’s lead only lasted one lap. On the next circuit, Sanders took back the lead. Sanders would lead the rest of the race. Sanders even had to hold off Golobic on a late race restart with two laps to go.
Behind them it was an all-out war between Kaleb Montgomery and Dominic Scelzi. These two drivers battled fiercely and went back and forth. In the end, Scelzi was able to finish in third. Tanner Carrick made a late race charge and surged into fourth near the end of the event. The hard charger award belonged to seven-time track champion Sean Becker. After finishing fourth in the B main event, Becker started 24th and finished fifth. Becker had the capacity crowd on the edge of their seats. Finishing sixth through tenth were Braden Chiaramonte, Seth Standley, Montgomery, Nick Parker, and Jace Park.
A total of 36 sprint cars returned for the third and final night of the fair race.
Standley won the B main event. As with Becker, it was impressive to watch him weave his way into a seventh-place finish in the main event after transferring from the B main.
One driver that made the most of their weekend was Brooklyn Holland. She won her 10 lap heat races. By doing so, she earned a spot in the dash. She raced up in the top five until another car contacted her and she spun around. Overall, for the weekend, she was as impressive as anyone with the limited amount of racing experience she has at Chico.
Another young and upcoming driver, Austin Wood, showed speed all weekend. He won the second heat race. Scelzi won the third heat race. Carrick cruised to win during heat race four.
Racing resumes at the Silver Dollar Speedway on June 6th and 7th.
