Mike Reeder Sweeps Dwarf Car Gold Cup Races

CHICO, CA (9-11-17) - It was a dream weekend for Dwarf Car driver Mike Reeder. While the focus could have been on the World of Outlaw races, Reeder took it upon himself to dominate the overall weekend of racing. On Friday night, Reeder started seventh but quickly drove to the front and won the 20-lap main event. On Saturday night, he started outside row three and did the unthinkable, getting back to the front and winning the feature event. It was a clean sweep for Reeder who was overjoyed in victory lane both nights. If winning the main events were not enough, Reeder also won each heat race he entered. Reeder never lost any of the four races he entered over the both nights of racing at the Gold Cup.

Friday night's race featured 17 drivers entered for night one of the Gold Cup. Scott Dahlgren and Josh Wiesz would lead the field to green. The battle for the lead was great. Dahlgren and Wiesz mixed it up for a bit and Mike Grenert was a factor for a bit. Soon it was evident that Reeder was headed towards the front. Other drivers that excelled were eighth place starting Shawn Jones and 14th starting Kevin Bender. Fifth place starting Ryan Winter was also in the mix. Up front Reeder thrilled the crowd when he took the lead. As the race continued, Reeder kept getting faster. In fact, his final lap was his fastest of the race. Dahlgren drove a great race and finished about a half -second behind at the checkered flag. Jones nailed down the third spot and was less than a second behind Reeder. Winter was able to hold off Bender at the finish line.

Shawn Jones won the opening eight lap heat race. Reeder grabbed the win in heat two.

Saturday night saw 22 drivers sign in for night number two. The feature got off to a rough and tumble start when eight of the drivers crashed in turn two. It was a scary situation but all drivers were reported to be fine. When racing resumed, Mike Grenert was credited as the first leader. Grenert led until lap five when Reeder flexed his muscle and took the top spot. It was a position that Reeder was not going to relinquish. Ryan Winter continued his hard charging ways and moved from deep in the field to second on the final lap. Grenert finished in the third spot. Danny Wagner drove back up to finish in the fourth spot. Josh Wiesz earned a fifth-place finish.

Scott Dahlgren won the first eight lap heat race. Buddy Olschowka earned the win during heat race two. Reeder got the win in heat three.
