Northern Sport Modifieds Added to Friday and Saturday of Gold Cup

CHICO, CA (8-25-16) - The Northern Sport Modifieds have been added to the Friday and Saturday night racing at the upcoming 63rd Gold Cup Race of Champions. The sport mods will join the World of Outlaw sprint cars for a twin billing of close and intense dirt track racing. The sport mods will run two complete individual shows with Saturday night�s main event winner pocketing $500. This is a non IMCA sanctioned event but the track will honor IMCA member cards for discounted pit fees.

Speaking of discounts, any sprint car drivers who are a registered member at either Silver Dollar Speedway or Marysville Raceway and attempt to qualify for both Friday and Saturday nights of Gold Cup are eligible for a $200 bonus. A new event added for car enthusiast will take place Friday morning of Gold Cup. On September 9th, from 10 AM to 2:30 PM, the Drifters Car Club of Chico will host a classic car show and shine. These classic cars will be on display for fans to take a peek at these beautiful machines. The show and shine event will be located in the vicinity of the front gate entrance behind the main grandstands.

Lastly, the staff at this year�s Gold Cup and local authorities has come to a common conclusion to ease up on the camping rules and allow our fans to have a little more fun. The authorities will ease up on enforcing guidelines that had been endorsed in past Gold Cups.
