Mason Moore Back in Victory Lane at Chico

Mason Moore Back in Victory Lane at Chico

CHICO, CA (7-9-16) - Princetons favorite son Mason Moore parked his family owned #22 back in victory lane Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway. The win was even more special considering the last time Moore won at Chico was in September of 2013. I just wanted to win one so bad for my guys, said Moore in victory lane. It feels good to be on the front stretch here again at Chico. Last season Moore went through a health scare and has recently told his father that he feels about 90 percent back to normal. It was good to see Moore win and the crowd seemed to appreciate him and his teams resilience the last few months at Chico.

Live Oaks Matt Micheli earned his second win of the year in the limited late model division. At first it seemed Willie McMillen was on his way to a dominating performance. As McMillen road the high scary side, Micheli was patient on the bottom and waited for his chance. That opportunity arose when McMillen drifted off the edge in turn three and Micheli was able to slide under him for the lead. McMillen finished in the second spot and Ryan McDaniel had an off night and finished third. Tonight, the experience of Micheli paid off and he was once again ecstatic in victory lane.

Grass Valley driver Bret Youngman found the high side to his liking and won the wingless spec sprint main event. Youngman scored the hard fought win over Timmy Sherman Jr. Brent Steck drove his way up to a third place finish. After an early spin, Terry Schank Jr. drove back and finished fourth. Tony Richards came home fifth.

Mike Ficklin earned his second win of the year during the winged economy main event. Mike Sayre and Chris Story came home second and third. Sayre led the opening few laps until Ficklin found the fast way around the track. Point leader Wyatt Brown struggled all night and this will close up the championship quite a bit.

Sacramentos Brian Compton won his fifth consecutive hobby stock main event of the year. Compton is still undefeated at Chico in 2016. Shannon Collins drove another solid race to finish second. Brad Ray is always on the gas and came home third. Cameron Hammett was fast all night, even led the first two laps, but slipped up a bit and drifted back to fourth. A win is right around the corner for Hammett.

The speedway will lay silent the next two weekends. Racing will resume on July 29th.
