Becker Back in Victory Lane

Becker Back in Victory Lane

CHICO, CA (6-10-16) - Let's face it, Sean Becker is a winner. Yet, the five-time Silver Dollar Speedway track champion was down on himself this past weekend. After losing the lead with five laps to go during Saturday night's King of the West race at Chico, Becker wasn't in a chipper mood come Sunday. A driver's best remedy is getting back into victory lane. Becker turned his frown upside down Friday night when he bested a strong field of 410 winged sprint cars on Friday night and got that so important victory lane hug from his wife and children. "I feel better now," said Becker when asked about last weekend. "I have a capable car and team and I think we are headed in the right direction." Andy Forsberg did his part to knock Becker out of victory lane but the Auburn driver was never able to contend for the win. Jonathan Allard brought the Tri-C Machine #3c home in the third spot. Mason Moore finished in the fourth spot while Chase Majdic drove up through the field and finished fifth. Cody Lamar turned the fastest lap in qualifying at a 12.017. Heat race one was picked up by rookie driver Kalib Henry. Another young and upcoming driver is Seth Nunes and he won the second heat race.

Howard Law used his knowledge and driving ability to secure the win during the entertaining IMCA Sport Mod main event. Law is a one of the better personalities our sport of dirt track racing offers. Todd Cooper is always a threat to win and tonight he finished second. Mark Abouzeid returned to racing action and came home third. Damian Merritt and Keith Foux enjoyed strong nights of racing and come home inside the top five.

Scott Males won an incredible BCRA Midget Lite main event. Males held off a charging Bobby Michnowicz to get the win. The race was halted on the opening lap with contact between Emilee Lindgren and R.C. Smith that sent both drivers upside down on the back stretch. Lindgren was bruised and sore and needed some medical attention but ultimately walked away under her own power. Both drivers were unable to return to the track. Point leader Craig Dillard finished in the third spot. Kyle Offill had the lead until a mechanical issue sidelined him. Scott Kinney was an early retiree also. While Lindgren's night ended on a bad note, she did win the first heat race in convincing style. Kinney won the second and final eight lap heat race.

Matt Micheli enjoyed the spoils of victory lane when Ryan McDaniel pulled into the infield with mechanical issues during the Limited Late Model main event. Micheli was in the right spot at the right time and went on the best the field of remaining cars by nearly 13 seconds. McDaniel had been the only winner this year at Chico. George Magenheimer finished second and Keith Foux came home third.

Phil Marino was back to his old winning ways Friday night and won the 20-lap street stock main event. Kevin Lesch battled his way up to a second place finish. Brent Hall was solid all night and came home third. Kyle Davey always puts on a good show and finished fourth. Brent Lawrence finished in the fifth spot. Marino swept the night by winning the first heat race. Jessee Skidmore did a great job in winning heat race number two.

The Hobby Stock main event took a long time to complete but in the end it was worth it for Brian Compton. The multi-time track champion passed rookie Todd Hemman on the last lap, last turn to get the impressive win. The crowd loved it. Heart break city for Hemman but he should still feel good about his second place finish. Kyle Allen came back to finish third. Cy Cooper and James West finished inside the top five. Brad Ray won the first heat race. Youngster Cameron Hammett was impressive in winning heat race number two.
