Destiny Hays takes win in Pacific Sprint Cup
18- year old lady racer holds off field of veterans to score $3000 feature victory in Gold Cup opener
For eighteen year old Destiny Hays of Oroville there was no doubt her first career win would come one day soon judging from her top finishing performances during the most recent season at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Known to most of her fans and counterparts as "the sensation", Hays turned many heads Wednesday night as she garnered her first career win with a $3000 victory in the prestigious Pacific Sprint Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.

Sohnrey, Marrs share Dirt Modified title
Tonight two different drivers were crowned track champions under the lights of Silver Dollar Speedway as the dirt modified division concluded it’s 2001 track championship with the fourth annual Dirt Modified Cup.

Mike Sohnrey of Durham garnered his fifth feature victory in the 20-lap feature event to capture the track title in the car owner category. In the driver standings, Charlie Marrs of Yuba City claimed the title prior to the start of the feature event, a race where he placed seventh when the checkered flag waved.

So what's’ to follow the big victory by Destiny Hays in the Wednesday night opener for the 48th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions ?

The answer is simple. The nation’s top sprint car drivers in the first of two preliminary nights of competition.

As the first half of the field assembles tonight beginning at 6:30 with qualifying those drivers who have logged entries for the Thursday program include the King of the Outlaws Steve Kinser and the King of California Brent Kaeding.
