Second round of prelims on tap for tonight
One down and one to go to determine the starting line-ups for the Saturday night Gold Cup Race of Champions. Tonight, Silver Dollar Speedway will host the second and final night of preliminary competition for the 46th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.

Topping the entry list for tonight’s program will be current World of Outlaws point leader Mark Kinser of Oolitic, Indiana. Kinser, who was originally scheduled for Thursday night’s preliminary, elected to enter tonight’s event after feeling somewhat under the weather on Thursday. So far in the 1999 campaign, Kinser has earned a total of 18 A-feature victories and five preliminary victories. a preliminary win tonight, could very well put Kinser up front in Saturday’s line-up where he will shoot to earn his first ever Gold Cup Race of Champions.

Texas Speedway will host Outlaws next year
In a landmark ceremony that is destined to change the complexion of the sport, Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series and Texas Motor Speedway officials broke ground on a dirt sprint car racing facility recently.

The 4/10-mile oval to be built at Texas Motor Speedway will host two Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series events next season. Texas Motor Speedway, a regular stop for NASCAR’s Winston Cup and Busch Grand National Series for several years, has a seating capacity of more than 150,000, and Johnson expects fans from all over the country to fill the seats at the dirt track.
