Single Event Canceled at Silver Dollar Speedway
By Troy Hennig
CHICO, CA (7-17-12) - Silver Dollar Speedway management announced today the event planned for July 27th at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds has been cancelled. It does not impact any other Silver Dollar races or any other series events leading up to or following the July 27th race. Racing will continue this Friday July 20th with Miller Glass night featuring 410 winged sprint cars, hobby stocks, economy sprints, street stocks, and wingless sprints.
Speedway management was notified last week that the arrangements for television had been cancelled for the event. "The event at our track on July 27th was built up and agreed upon by a television sponsorship," explained raceway manager, Dennis Gage. "The television sponsor agreement allowed us to set the purse and ticket prices." Gage went on to say, "We tried to put together some last minute deals, but there just wasn't enough time to regroup once we were notified of the television cancellation," said Gage.
The speedway will be dark the night of the 27th, but will return to action with a double header on the ¼ mile oval located at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. August 3rd will bring the USAC Western Classic Racing Series back to the Speedway along with Limited Late Models, economy sprints, and mini stocks. The HOT AUGUST DEAL follows on August 4th when Enduro racing comes to the speedway. 200 laps of grueling action can be watched for the lowest ticket price of the year at $6 for all tickets.
HOT AUGUST WINGS will feature a twin winged sprint car race featuring both 360 and 410 winged sprint cars on August 10th. That will be followed by another double header with Kids night on August 17th and the final King of West race on August 18. Pepsi trophy night is August 24 to conclude the regular season.
Tickets are now on sale for the Gold Cup Race of Champion featuring World of Outlaw sprint cars on September 6, 7, and 8. Civil War sprints and USAC Classic cars will open the Gold Cup on September 5th.Information is available from the track website at www.silverdollarspeedway.com or the track business office at 530-350-7275.
